Visitor Information
Here is some information about visiting the hospice. If you have any other questions, please get in touch with us on 01264 835288.
When can I visit?
We don’t have set visiting hours so you can visit anytime during the day, evening or night.
Our main reception is open from 9am – 4pm on weekdays. If you are visiting the hospice at these times, please use the intercom at the main reception door on arrival. You will be buzzed in and we will ask you to sign in.
When our reception is closed, please still use the intercom at the main reception door. The hospice staff will buzz you in but there might not be someone at the reception desk. If this is the case, please sign in at the desk and then make your way past the main reception area and turn right, using either the lift or the stairs to go down to our Inpatient Unit where the team will be happy to help you.
Please be aware that staff may be busy with patients and may not respond straight away to the intercom but they will answer as soon as they can. Thank you for your patience.
Please make sure you sign out at the main reception desk when you leave.
Who can visit?
Everyone is welcome! Visitors to the hospice can include babies, children and even pets. We don’t have any age restrictions but please ensure children are always supervised and, if you would like to bring a pet, please give us a quick call on 01264 835288 to let us know in advance.
Please do bear in mind that too many visitors or visits for long periods of time may exhaust your loved ones, and sometimes we may have to limit the number of visitors for clinical reasons.
Can I speak to a staff member?
Of course. It’s likely you will know the name of the nurse who is responsible for your family member of friend’s care each day. Your named nurse will change as staff go on and off duty but we will try to make sure you’re informed about this change. There is also a “Your Team Today” picture board at the entrance to the Inpatient Unit with the names of the staff on duty.
If you’re not sure, please do ask any member of staff who will be happy to help you.
Where can I park?
The hospice has its own private car park in front of the main reception area. Please bear in mind that these are not allocated spaces and there might not be space when you arrive. If this is the case, please park in the hospital’s visitor car park. Please ask a member of staff to register your car’s registration number before you leave so you won’t need to pay for your parking when you leave the car park.
Do you have somewhere I can relax and get some refreshments?
We have a large, open lounge area as well as a separate family room where you are welcome to relax and make yourself a cup of tea or coffee or something to eat. We also have an outside garden area where you can also sit with your family and friends.
Do you have Wi-Fi at the hospice?
You will need to log into the NHS Wi-Fi to gain access, please ask a member of staff for the details.
Is the hospice accessible?
We have several disabled parking spaces in our car park and there are accessible toilets throughout the hospice. There is also a lift to the Inpatient Unit from the main reception.
If you have any other special access needs, please let our staff know and they will be happy to help.
A note about infection control
Our patients can easily catch infections. Please help to avoid this by using the hand gel provided at the entrance to the hospice and around the building. As we are an acute medical facility, there may be restrictions in place which don’t apply in the general population but our staff will let you know about any restrictions and there will also be information notices.
Smoking
The hospice and its grounds are a non-smoking environment.
